German football legend, Lothar Matthaus, has revealed that it will be difficult to keep Sead Kolasinac at Schalke with the likes of Arsenal ready to snap him up.
- Arsenal set to sign Kolasinac for free
- Everton, AC Milan and Manchester City also interested
- Schalke in turmoil and could lose more players claims Matthaus
Contrary to previous reports, Sead Kolasinac hasn’t yet signed for Arsenal. However, it does seem as if a deal is in the works and the Gunners will get him for free since his Schalke contract is finished at the end of the season.
Lothar Matthaus, who was capped 150 times for Germany between 1980 and 2000, wrote in his column for SportBild that, considering the situation the Bundesliga club are in, they might not be saying goodbye to just Kolasinac this summer.
“With Sead Kolasinac it seems his goodbye is already revealed, to the Premier League,” he wrote. “If prestigious as well as lucrative clubs like Arsenal lure, it is of course difficult for Schalke to keep their players.”
What’s happening at Schalke?
Schalke are currently down in 11th in the Bundesliga table with the management and players seemingly at loggerheads. The bosses are blaming the players for their poor performances, which means the players aren’t happy and could be looking to jump ship as soon as they can.
Matthaus mentioned that both Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer could also be heading for the exit this summer. Both of which Arsenal have already been linked with.
