Despite the 2-0 win over West Brom on Thursday, Arsene Wenger appeared tired as he faced the media and insisted that would could have scored more.
Wenger has come under criticism recently, deservedly so, and many believe that he doesn’t care or that he doesn’t let it affect him. However, he’s only human and it’s bound to. After our win against the Baggies, which saw a rejuvenated Alexis Sanchez score a brace, the boss once again backed his squad and claimed that we could have scored more.
“I believe the quality of our game was very good,” he said.
“Maybe we could have scored more goals.”
The title is gone and we’re currently doing our best to finish in the top four – as usual – but something feels different this season. Although Wenger insists he’s seeing out his contract as manager of Arsenal until 2017, you do get the sense that something’s clicked over the past few weeks. Whether for better or worse, I don’t know.
On a lighter note, we played better against West Brom than we have in a while, so let’s finish the season on a high. Well, as high as we can be.
