Arsene Wenger has spoken about why he’s so happy with new Arsenal signing, Mohamed Elneny.

The deal for the 23-year-old was finally confirmed on Wednesday and shortly after, the boss spoke about the midfielder’s strengths. However, he also highlighted that although the adaptation period should be reasonably short considering Elneny has come from Basel, by no means a small club, he needs to rise to the challenge of the Premier League.

“His strengths are his technical level, his vision, his intelligence, his disciplined attitude and his physical attitude to compete at a high level,” the boss said.

“I think he has the physical qualities to play at the top level.

“Where he needs to adapt is to the challenges, the force needed in the Premier League to survive. I think that could demand a little bit of adaptation. But overall I think he has all the attributes to do well.”

Although Basel is involved in Europe, the Premiership is an incredibly intense league with fixture after fixture coming in rapid succession. It’s often difficult for new players to come in and start performing consistently straight away. However, Wenger is no stranger to managing new players and he’ll already have a plan in place to get Elneny ready as soon as possible.

As a fan, I’m looking forward to seeing the midfielder in action. Wenger obviously thinks highly of him and he’s exactly what we need.
