According to the Daily Star, Manchester City want Jack Wilshere.

Good for them.

While I’m not entirely sure how much attention we should pay to this piece that claims that City will offer £30m for the Arsenal man who still has three years left on his current deal, it’s worth pointing out a few things.

First up, Arsenal are no longer in the postion they found themselves in when City were awash with cash.

Happy to sell players for overinflated fees as they tried to pay down the stadium debt, City had their pick.

Not that they picked very well.

Next, for all his injury problems (the most recent not being his fault but that of Paddy McNair who should have been sent off), Jack is seen by Wenger as a key part of this Arsenal side and important for the future of the club.

Tipped as a possible future captain, he’s still only 23.

Turning 24 on January 1st, you could be pretty certain he’ll be doing it while wearing an Arsenal shirt.
