Arsene Wenger insists that while Arsenal haven’t lost Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil ‘yet’, the Gunners will respond by signing top quality players if they do.

Wenger claims that, in the past, Arsenal have responded well to losing big players and insists that, if Alexis and Ozil do leave the club, we’ll do the same again.

“We have not lost them yet. And secondly we will respond to that by bringing in players of top quality,” said Wenger during his pre-Chelsea press conference on Tuesday morning.

Alexis and Ozil both have under six months on their current contracts. Although there’s a chance that the German will stay, with Arsenal even including the playmaker in their 2018 calendar, Alexis is a different story.

The Chilean seemingly can’t wait to leave and Manchester City are reportedly hovering in order to either sign him in January or nab him for free at the end of the season.

Although it’s possible to find another world class forward like Alexis, I think it’ll be far harder to replace Ozil. The type of vision the 29-year-old has is unique.

While Gooners have resigned themselves to Alexis leaving for City, most would genuinely be gutted if we lost Ozil in a similar way.

Although Wenger insists the club will replace him if they need to, it’s hard to imagine who we could convince to come to north London that’s even close to his level when he’s in form.
