The Daily Star are today reporting that Monaco will sell Thomas Lemar to Arsenal – for a price of £55m – which, if you ask me, seems positively reasonable in a window that saw Kyle Walker move for a similar amount.

That being said, it is the Daily Star and the fact that they write, “But we now understand that the French club will sell – but only if Arsenal meet their revised valuation,” immediately makes me question things. I mean, Monaco are hardly going to sell if Arsenal *don’t* meet their valuation, are they?

I’m not overly sure how this ‘revised’ fee is a problem either given that for weeks parts of the press have been telling us that Lemar would cost about £80m.

If anything, as I said, £55m seems far more reasonable and realistic.

Lemar is believed to be Arsene Wenger’s main summer target now that Lacazette and Kolasinac are secured but I also have to question the Star’s insistence that Wenger thought he could get the 21-year-old for £25m.

That was the price being mentioned back in May but a lot has changed since then, not least PSG, Manchester City and Manchester United’s stupidness with money distorting the entire window for every team.
