Former Gunner, Robert Pires, believes that Arsene Wenger is still the best man for Arsenal despite our disappointing start to the season.

A loss at home to Liverpool on the opening day and a draw away to Leicester means that Arsenal have one point from a possible six. Not the best start. Not only this but we’re in desperate need of another centre-back and really, really need another striker. The situation has left Gooners in a permanent state of frustration since there’s basically nothing we can do.

Speaking to Goal.com, Pires insisted that he knows Arsene and he does want to win the title.

“I believe always in Arsene Wenger,” he said.

“He is doing well for a very long time.

“I know Arsene, the first objective when he starts the season is always to win the title.

“For me he’s the best manager for Arsenal.”

The thing is, I find it so hard to believe that Wenger’s priority isn’t winning the title but then you look at some of his actions, particularly over the past few seasons, and can’t help but wonder what’s going on. There has to be more to this than meets the eye but I don’t know what.
