Per Mertesacker has urged his Arsenal teammates to respect how dangerous Chelsea can be.

Arsene Wenger has shed some light on what’s happening behind the scenes with Per Mertesacker’s contract and it seems that, according to the boss, the ‘situation’ has not been dealt with.

Arsenal may not have had a proper captain start a league match since some time in 2014, but Per Mertesacker has had his portrait placed on the captain’s wall despite being sidelined until the last six months of his contract.

Per Mertesacker has written his first set of notes for the Arsenal matchday programme and it’s safe to say he’s more than a little chuffed with the whole thing.
