Even though it’s only been a matter of days since the rumour broke, Alessio Romagnoli is reportedly going to Chelsea and not Arsenal – what a shame.

The Roma defender was linked with us on Friday with reports claiming we were willing to stump up £24.4m for the 20-year-old. The only reason we seemed to have been linked with him in the first place was that he is a) a footballer and b) Arsenal Football Club sometimes sign footballers. Other than that, Arsene Wenger has made it pretty clear he has no intention of signing any defenders this window.

Now, pesky Chelsea are now about to swoop in and steal him right from underneath our nose – apparently. It’s no surprise that they’re willing to pay more money (£25m) and even offer winger, Mohamed Salah, as part of the deal.

Young Romagnoli played 31 matches for the Serie A team last season and, as I said before, this makes the likelihood of us, or anyone, signing him for such a huge amount of money pretty low.
