Fabrizio Romano reports that Juventus and Wojciech Szczesny have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract with immediate effect.

The paperwork is still being prepared and checked, but assuming all goes well, Szczesny will receive a pay-off and be available as a free agent.

Szczesny has been linked with a number of clubs this summer, including Arsenal, though it’s possible he may not join any of them.

Calciomercato report that in the absence of a satisfactory solution for the continuation of his career, Szczesny isn’t ruling out the possibility of retirement.

The goalkeeper is 34, and he reportedly doesn’t intend to keep playing until he’s 40. His family are happy in Turin, so they may decide to stick around despite ending his association with Juventus.

If Szczesny does want to continue his career, he’ll hope to find a new club pretty quickly.

The next World Cup is in 2026, with qualifiers kicking off later this season, and it’s much less likely he’d keep his place as Poland’s first-choice goalkeeper if he’s not playing regular high-level football.

In his final season with Juventus, Szczesny played 35 matches in Serie A and kept 15 clean sheets.
