Arsenal youth striker Khayon Edwards has a year left on his contract with the club, and he’s considering an exit for first-team football.

Daily Cannon have learned that Arsenal want to offer Khayon Edwards a new deal this summer, with the youth striker’s current contract expiring in June 2025.

But the player himself is seeking senior opportunities, and he could be on the move permanently this summer.

After his first taste of first-team football through the loan market this season, the 20-year-old is now attracting interest from within the Premier League and abroad.

Edwards started the 2023/24 campaign in good form for the Arsenal u21s, scoring nine goals and assisting two in 15 games.

That earned the striker his first loan spell, joining Leyton Orient for the final few months of the season.

But although head coach Richie Wellens heaped praise on Edwards after his debut, he never really gave the player consistent minutes, only handing him four starts and three substitute appearances.

All the same, it was a taste of first-team football for Edwards, and he’s evidently keen for more now.

With one year on his deal, Edwards will only realistically be able to move on loan if he signs a contract extension with Arsenal first. So for the time being, the primary question is whether he extends or makes a permanent exit.
