Arsenal’s match against Everton will not take place this weekend as all football in England is cancelled, from the Premier League down to the National League, while the women’s season opener against Manchester City will also not take place.

The Premier League have taken the decision to cancel all football this weekend as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday afternoon.

The Football League, National League and FA WSL have all made the same decision.

Arsenal’s men were due to play Everton on Sunday at the Emirates while the the women were due to travel to Manchester to face City.

At the time of writing, it is not clear if matches will go ahead next week as planned. There is a concern about the availability of police who will be deployed to London in huge numbers for the Queen’s funeral.

Arsenal are due to play PSV Eindhoven on Thursday at the Emirates before travelling to Brentford on Sunday. We then head into an international break before domestic football returns with Arsenal vs Tottenham on 1 October at the Emirates.

The women’s team are due to play Brighton at home on Friday evening.
