Arsenal and Manchester City have reportedly reached a verbal agreement on a fee of around £30m for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal and Manchester City have already reached a verbal agreement in principle for the transfer of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The fee is in the region of £30m.
The deal isn’t done, as personal terms are still being discussed. Arsenal are negotiating Zinchenko’s salary and length of contract, which is the key next step.
But from the sounds of things, it just comes down to the player now. Manchester City seemingly aren’t going to cause problems if everything else goes smoothly.
The Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan had reported that Zinchenko was previously resistant to leaving, but he’s now hoping for more minutes and likely to move on.
The Mail and the Manchester Evening News both emphasised Zinchenko’s strong relationship with Mikel Arteta, which should help with the personal terms.
As it stands, it looks like this could be a fairly straightforward operation.
Arsenal clearly got started on the deal while the media still believed they were pursuing Lisandro Martinez, allowing them to lay the groundwork behind the scenes.
The deal isn’t done until it’s done, and it’s not impossible that personal terms prove problematic. We currently know very little about Zinchenko’s demands. But everything is moving in the right direction for the time being.
Zinchenko can play at left-back or in midfield, along with a couple of other positions. He made 28 appearances for City last season, including 18 starts in all competitions.
