After news broke via David Ornstein on Thursday that Arsenal were prioritising the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko, the situation is now quickly developing.

From Manchester, the Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan reports that Zinchenko is set to complete a £35m move. There’s optimism that the finances of a deal will be agreed in the coming days.

Gaughan writes that Zinchenko was previously resistant to leaving, but he’s now hoping for more minutes and likely to move on.

Manchester Evening News report that there’s a growing sense from all sides that Zinchenko will join Arsenal, with work to be done but enough progress over the last week of negotiations for the transfer to be a serious possibility.

Both the Mail and MEN emphasise Zinchenko’s strong relationship with Mikel Arteta as a promising factor.

From the Arsenal end, the Evening Standard report that talks are advanced, and the Gunners are hopeful of wrapping up a deal.

Charles Watts tweets that nothing is agreed yet, but there’s growing belief Arsenal and City will strike a deal. Talks are moving in the right direction and going well.

Sam Dean of The Telegraph adds that whilst the exact fee is still to be confirmed, it’s expected to be more than £30m. So the £35m fee touted by the City reporters sounds about right.

Ornstein wrote on Thursday that Arsenal and Manchester City were in contact over the transfer, and City are open to the sale – if their valuation is met.

Zinchenko can play at left-back or in midfield, along with a couple of other positions. He made 28 appearances for City last season, including 18 starts in all competitions.
