Folarin Balogun is expected to complete his move on loan to Middlesbrough in the next day or two with his medical now complete and all terms agreed.

It was reported that Folarin Balogun would undergo his Middlesbrough medical on Tuesday, although I’m not entirely sure how that’s happened with the 20-year-old currently in isolation for Covid.

Still, happen it did:

Regardless of his Covid status, we’ve been expecting since last week that we would get confirmation of the loan move and it seems like an announcement is indeed imminent.

It’s no real surprise to see Balogun going out on loan, after 20 goal contributions for the Arsenal u23s in the first half of the season.

Speaking at the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust Christmas Event, Arsenal academy manager Per Mertesacker suggested Balogun was the closest to going on loan.

Mertesacker’s quotes backed up a recent report from The Athletic that Arsenal had decided to let the striker go out on a temporary basis in the winter window.

The only question was where he’d end up, but it looks like we have our answer as he gets ready to join Middlesbrough in the Championship.
