Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has denied that they’re in talks with Lucas Torreira, though various reports cast doubt on his claims.

In quotes reported by La Repubblica, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare responded to the rumours linking his club with a move for Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

“We are not dealing with him, nor Kostic,” Tare said plainly.

Even the source of the quotes didn’t seem totally convinced. La Repubblica went on to add that the sporting director has liked the Uruguayan for years, and Torreira must be taken into consideration for Lazio.

In England, recent reports suggested Torreira was set for an imminent move to Lazio this summer. For Sky Sport Italia, Gianluca Di Marzio said Torreira had given his agreement for a transfer to Lazio, albeit without any agreement between the two clubs.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal want €20m in two instalments of €10m, whilst Lazio are pushing for a loan with an option to buy set at €15m, rising to €16m with bonuses.

If Lazio’s sporting director is to be believed, none of those reports are correct. But I wouldn’t rule out the possibility just yet.
