Lucas Torreira has already given his consent to a transfer to Lazio this summer, but there’s a long way to go with a potential deal.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Gianluca Di Marzio gave the latest on Lucas Torreira’s potential move to Lazio.

“[Torreira] is a player that Sarri really likes but in that role there are already players like Leiva, Escalante, and Cataldi,” Di Marzio said (via CittaCeleste). “This is why it will be necessary to make exits to allow this type of entry, this kind of switch.

“Lazio have already received Torreira’s ‘yes’, he would gladly return to Italy, now it’s up to Lazio to make the right offer.”

Reports in recent days already suggested that Lazio are an option for Torreira this summer, and he is interested in the move. Di Marzio wrote that Torreira is among Lazio’s options for midfield reinforcements, along with Julian Brandt.

But unsurprisingly, the primary problem with a potential deal is the finances involved.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Lazio’s interest in Torreira is complicated by the fact Arsenal are asking for €20m to sell him. Romano claims the deal has “no chance” if the price doesn’t change.

Perhaps that could change if Lazio made a couple of sales, as Di Marzio is suggesting they might have to if they want to bring Torreira in.

Torreira is currently away with Uruguay at Copa America. He started their opening group game against Argentina, and he could be involved again as they face Chile tonight.
