Bukayo Saka is an injury doubt for Thursday’s match against Slavia Prague, but footage of him from after the game seemed positive.

After another strong performance in another new position for Bukayo Saka on Sunday, the fans were understandably concerned to see him exiting the field with an apparent thigh injury.

Mikel Arteta confirmed after the game that the player had been experiencing thigh discomfort, though he’s hoping it won’t force him out of action for long.

“He had to come off,” Arteta said. “He had discomfort in his thigh and it’s the last thing that we need because we’re missing some big players at the moment and we don’t want to lose another one. Hopefully, it’s not that serious.”

There was a positive sign after the game, as Football.London journalist Kaya Kaynak posted footage of Saka leaving Bramall Lane. The player was walking unaided without a limp, which hopefully means the problem was just a dead leg.

Not all injuries make themselves immediately apparent, of course. We’ll need to wait for the results of Arsenal’s assessments over the next couple of days before we’ll know whether Saka is fit to feature in Prague. But it’s something to keep us optimistic.
