Gabriel Martinelli didn’t wait for any further evaluations of his knock against Sheffield United to pass himself fit for the next game on Thursday.

Over the weekend, Gabriel Martinelli made his first start for Arsenal since January, and his first appearance lasting over 80 minutes this season. To top things off, he scored Arsenal’s second goal in their 3-0 win over Sheffield United.

Amid all the excitement about the teenager’s return to the action, Arsenal fans were also concerned after he appeared to pick up a knock. Although he initially recovered to continue the match, he ended up coming off with seven minutes still to play.

Fortunately, Martinelli told the Arsenal website afterwards that he’s fine.

“I’m so tired, but I’m so happy as well,” Martinelli said. “No (I don’t have an injury), I am alright to play on Thursday.”

We should probably take this with a pinch of salt, as Martinelli is the kind of player who would likely ignore an injury just to stay on the pitch for a bit longer. Arsenal will need to conduct their own evaluation of the knock.

But hopefully, the Brazil u23 international is right and he’ll be available for action on Thursday.
