Matteo Guendouzi performed well on his full debut for Hertha BSC on Saturday, as they won 3-0 away to FC Augsburg.

Matteo Guendouzi made his first start for Hertha BSC on Saturday away to Augsburg. He missed the first couple of games of his loan spell after a positive coronavirus test, and made his debut substitute appearance last weekend, but he had to wait until this weekend for his full debut.

By all accounts, it went well. The young Frenchman completed the full 90 minutes of a 3-0 win, their first win in the four games since he joined the club.

Guendouzi completed 90% of his passes and all three of his attempted long balls. He completed two of his three dribbles and won six of eight individual duels. He blocked a shot, made two interceptions and three tackles, being dribbled past once.

Mostly playing on the left of central midfield, German outlet FR report that Guendouzi “steered the Berlin game” from deep. He wasn’t very involved in chance creation or shot taking, but he never really is.

The Arsenal loanee surely did enough to ensure another start when Hertha face Dortmund on the return of club football. For now, he’s heading away with the France u21s.
