Alex Iwobi has said that Thierry Henry still gives him advice.

Henry worked at Arsenal as a youth coach before leaving the club due to a conflict between his coaching and punditry duties.

During his time at the club, he gave advice to a number of young players, including Iwobi.

The Nigerian international has said that even today, he still receives advice from Arsenal’s record goalscorer.

“Thierry Henry, defo,” he told Four Four Two (via the Daily Star) when asked who his favourite Arsenal player was.

“The goals he got, the player he was – and he still advises me today, so definitely Henry.”

Iwobi made his debut for the Arsenal first team in 2015 and impressed enough to earn more league starts in the latter half of the 2015/16 season.

Since then, he’s been fully involved with the Arsenal squad, and has made 65 appearances for the club.

Henry likely advised Iwobi on how to become more prolific in front of goal.

Arsene Wenger believes that the next step in the 21-year-old’s development is to become more productive in the final third.

He recently scored in the 2-0 win over Brighton, and followed that up with the goal that sent Nigeria to the World Cup.
