Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that they can’t be too worried about Alexis Sanchez, or the Gunners’ other top players will take advantage.
Alexis looks set to make his return against Liverpool at Anfield, but Klopp insists that Liverpool need to focus on more than just the Chilean to get the right result on Sunday, according to the Daily Mail.
Klopp told reporters: “Alexis Sanchez is involved in every situation, he is dominant everywhere that’s what a world class player is able to do. We don’t think too much about it, we defend, we don’t follow him all over the pitch. If we concentrate too much on him someone else will show up.”
Alexis isn’t the only player with the potential to cause the Merseyside club problems. New signing Alexandre Lacazette shows the danger of his finishing whenever he gets an opportunity, and Olivier Giroud also has a good record against Liverpool.
With questions being asked about Mesut Özil’s performances, in particular after the match against Stoke (unfairly or not), he’ll also have a point to prove this weekend.
But it’s the return of Alexis Sanchez drawing most of the attention. This is no surprise after the often wasteful performances of most of Arsenal’s attacking players against Stoke.
Danny Welbeck and Hector Bellerín, in particular, got into positions that Alexis would normally find himself in, but wasted every opportunity against the Potters. Either that or they were clearly fouled and ignored.
Arsenal’s Chilean rarely has problems with wasting scoring opportunities. So whatever he says about danger coming from all over the team, Klopp will need to keep an eye on Alexis if he wants to get the win on Sunday.
