Alex Iwobi scored a brace in Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Plateau United on Wednesday.
The match was only a friendly in preparation for Nigeria’s World Cup Qualifier versus Zambia against a club from their own League. However, it’s reassuring to see Iwobi taking his chances and scoring two goals for his country.
Since it was only a friendly against Plateau United, finding actual footage of the goals themselves is proving difficult but, according to Twitter, the boy did good.

57' GOAL!! Alex Iwobi double the lead for the Senior National team with a wonderful solo effort @NGSuperEagles 2-0 @plateauutdfc

Iwobi recently spoke about being disappointed to not be involved in the Rio Olympics this summer. Although he understands why Arsene Wenger needed to keep him behind, it would have been a big deal for the 20-year-old. With this in mind, I imagine that he’s taking any opportunity he gets to perform for his country.
Hopefully, the forward goes on to play against Zambia on Sunday and dazzle for Nigeria yet again.
Nice one, Alex.
