The 16-year-old missed the final game of the international break, but the latest reports suggest Arsenal have been given some reassurance over the problem.

Max Dowman’s injury has been clarified after the Arsenal youngster withdrew from the England Under-19s squad earlier this week.

England confirmed over the weekend that Dowman had left the squad because of injury, but no details were initially given about the nature of the problem.

The 16-year-old had featured in England’s first three matches of the international break, starting against the Republic of Ireland and the USA.

Dowman scored against the Republic of Ireland and provided an assist in the win over the USA, although he was sent off in the 73rd minute of that game.

Because it was only a friendly, the dismissal did not prevent him from being available for England’s final match against Belgium.

His injury, however, did.

The Times now reports that Dowman suffered a ‘minor contact injury’, backing up a similar report from Joshua Hall of The S*n.

There are no major concerns that the Arsenal teenager will be sidelined for a significant period.

Dowman will now try to recover in time for Arsenal’s Premier League game against Leeds United this weekend.

He has good memories of the fixture from last season, having won a penalty during a 5-0 victory on his senior debut.
