Arsenal’s Max Dowman has withdrawn from the international break due to injury, having played for the England u19s over the last fortnight.

England confirmed over the weekend that Arsenal’s Max Dowman had withdrawn from their u19 squad due to injury.
Dowman had featured in England’s first three games of the break, starting two matches against the Republic of Ireland and the USA. He scored in the Ireland game, and provided an assist in the USA win, but he was sent off in the 73rd minute.
Due to the fact the game was just a friendly, Dowman remained eligible to feature in England’s final game against Belgium. But his injury ended his chances of playing in the match.

Joshua Hall reports for The S*n that they understand the issue is simply a contact injury, and not thought to be serious. There are reportedly no major concerns that Dowman could be sidelined for a significant period.
The report adds that the decision to dismiss Dowman against the USA was viewed as harsh by those in attendance watching the match.
Though it’s certainly disappointing for the break to end on the double blow of a red card and a minor injury, it’s better for Dowman to return to Arsenal and rest than to play in that final Belgium friendly.

Dowman will now look to recover in time for Arsenal’s game against Leeds United this weekend. The youngster will have fond memories of this fixture last season, having won a penalty in a 5-0 win on his debut in senior football.
After the defeat to Brighton in the last game, this would be a good time to repeat that Leeds scoreline from 2025/26.
