Arsenal‘s pursuit of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee may not be over yet, despite the Dutch forward reportedly agreeing to personal terms with AC Milan.

A snag in negotiations between Zirkzee‘s agent, Kia Joorabchian, and Milan over agent fees has potentially left the door ajar for the Gunners to re-enter the race.

Initially, Arsenal appeared to be out of the running after Zirkzee agreed to a five-year contract with Milan, worth €4 million per season. However, Joorabchian‘s demand for a €15 million agent fee has proven to be a major stumbling block for the Italian club, who are reportedly only willing to pay €8 million.

This impasse has created a window of opportunity for Arsenal, who were previously interested in the 23-year-old striker. Zirkzee enjoyed a successful season with Bologna, contributing 19 goals in 37 games, making him an attractive prospect for the Gunners as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

While James McNicholas of The Athletic reported that Arsenal had no plans to pursue Zirkzee this summer, the latest developments could prompt a change of heart. If the Gunners are willing to meet Joorabchian‘s demands, they could potentially hijack the deal and bring Zirkzee to the Emirates Stadium.

However, Arsenal‘s interest in Zirkzee is not without its critics. Some fans and pundits have questioned the wisdom of signing a player with a limited track record in a top league, especially given the hefty price tag and agent fees involved.

Nevertheless, Zirkzee‘s potential and his impressive goal-scoring record in Serie A cannot be ignored. If Arsenal can overcome the agent fee hurdle, the Dutch striker could prove to be a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta‘s squad.
