Ivan Toney says Thomas Frank’s recent comments on his future make him feel like the Brentford boss doesn’t want him at the club.
Earlier this week, Brentford manager Thomas Frank made some headlines when he told the media that Ivan Toney would probably be sold in the summer, due to the length of his contract.
Responding to those comments following his goal against Wolves on Saturday, Toney suggested it showed a lack of desire from his current club to keep him around.
“I see that as he doesn’t want me,” Toney said. “Well yeah, the manager’s said what he’s said.
“Listen, I can’t make clubs come and get me. I’ve just got to keep doing what I do and that’s score goals.
“Like I said, what will be, will be.”
Toney has been heavily linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, among others, though Brentford were emphatic that they didn’t want to sell in the January transfer window.
David Ornstein reported at the time that the most probable scenario was a summer sale or a free transfer in 2025. Right now, it’s looking like a sale is more likely.
Toney was suspended from football for the first half of the season due to breaching FA rules on gambling, but he’s now returned to action.
The striker has three goals in his first four games back with Brentford, following his 20 goals in 33 Premier League games last season.
