Brentford boss Thomas Frank believes Ivan Toney will remain at the club beyond the conclusion of the January transfer window.

Ivan Toney has been heavily linked with a January transfer in recent weeks, with Arsenal and Chelsea among those supposedly interested in signing him.

But Brentford manager Thomas Frank is emphatic that they have no plans to sell the striker in the winter window as it stands.

“Yes, he’s staying,” Frank said in a press conference this week.

“He is a Brentford player. I can’t see why we would sell him and I would love to have him for a longer time. It needs to be an unbelievable price. So he will stay here.”

David Ornstein recently reported for The Athletic that there have been no developments in Arsenal’s potential pursuit of Toney, and it would take a massive bid to change that.

Ornstein added that Toney is particularly likely to stay now that Bryan Mbeumo is injured for around three months.

If Toney is going to leave Brentford in January, Ornstein claimed it would need to be a minimum loan with a high obligation to buy, not an option.

The most probable scenario at this stage is a summer sale or a free transfer in 2025.

Ed Aarons of The Guardian confirms that Toney is in no rush to leave Brentford in January, and he’s fully focusing on his return to action after suspension.

Aarons writes that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested, but a summer move seems more likely than a January transfer.

Toney is currently suspended from football due to breaching FA rules on gambling, but he’s back in training, and he’ll be able to play again later this month.

The forward scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games for Brentford last season.
