Ivan Toney is in no rush to leave Brentford, with a summer move more likely, particularly in light of the injury to Bryan Mbeumo.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that there have been no developments in Arsenal’s potential pursuit of Ivan Toney, and it would take a massive bid to change that.

Expanding on that point in his Q&A, Ornstein writes that Toney is particularly likely to stay now that Bryan Mbeumo is injured for around three months.

If Toney is going to leave Brentford in January, Ornstein claims it would need to be a minimum loan with a high obligation to buy, not an option.

The most probable scenario at this stage is a summer sale or a free transfer in 2025.

Ed Aarons of The Guardian confirms that Toney is in no rush to leave Brentford in January, and he’s fully focusing on his return to action after suspension.

Aarons writes that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested, but a summer move seems more likely than a January transfer.

Fabrizio Romano previously wrote in his Daily Briefing that Brentford are only open to letting Toney leave for a significant proposal in January.

Romano notes that some reports have suggested Arsenal could try to sign Toney on loan, as they did with David Raya, but Brentford are more than happy to keep Toney around unless they receive a big bid.

The Evening Standard recently claimed that Toney is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, but that doesn’t mean much if his club don’t want to let him go for a reasonable price.

Toney is currently suspended from football due to breaching FA rules on gambling, but he’s back in training, and he’ll be able to play again in January.

The forward scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games for Brentford last season.
