As the January 2024 transfer window progresses, Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, are reportedly pursuing several players to enhance their squad for the latter half of the season.
The club’s focus is on strengthening midfield and attacking options, with high-profile names from both domestic and international clubs linked with moves to North London.
In the January 2024 transfer window, Arsenal have been linked with numerous exciting players, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad for a strong finish in various competitions.
These are just a few of them…
The Gunners are reportedly interested in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. The midfielder’s release clause is set at around £52m, and while Real Sociedad are reluctant to lose such a key player in January, Arsenal’s interest is piqued, especially with Barcelona dropping out of the race for him.
Zubimendi’s presence could add depth to Arsenal’s midfield, which has been a concern since Granit Xhaka’s departure.
Another midfielder linked with Arsenal is Fulham’s Joao Palhinha.
Despite interest from other major clubs like Bayern Munich, Arsenal are exploring the possibility of bringing Palhinha across London. However, Fulham could demand a fee of around £77m for the Portugal international.
Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa is also on Arsenal’s radar. Despite Villa’s reluctance to sell, the Brazilian midfielder remains a potential target for Arteta. Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Arsenal are interested in Luiz, but Villa manager Unai Emery is understandably keen to keep him at the club.
Another strong link is with Brentford’s Ivan Toney. Despite his recent suspension, Toney is a sought-after striker and could be an option for Arsenal to strengthen their attack.
However, Brentford’s asking price could be as high as £80m, making a deal more complex. This week, Toney hinted he could be open to a move to a ‘top club’ in this window.
In terms of potential departures, Aaron Ramsdale, Jakub Kiwior, Emile Smith Rowe, and Eddie Nketiah are among the names mentioned.
Ramsdale might seek a move for regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2024, with Newcastle and Chelsea showing interest in a loan deal.
Kiwior is linked with a move to AC Milan, and Smith Rowe could be sold if a significant offer comes in.
Crystal Palace enquired about Nketiah but Arsenal rejected the approach.
