Arsenal are expected to move for an attacker in the summer, with a number of players linked with a transfer to north London in 2024.
The Evening Standard report that Arsenal’s priority in the January transfer window will be a new midfielder, but they’re then expected to move for an attacker in the summer.
The Standard write that Ivan Toney is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, but he’s not the only player linked with a transfer.
Arsenal have spent time scouting Santiago Gimenez, and they also remain admirers of Wolves winger Pedro Neto.
Any links with Toney appear to be on hold for the moment, with Brentford sporting director Phil Giles claiming he’s received no contact over the transfer, and talkSPORT reporting that he won’t be leaving Brentford in the winter window.
On the contrary, Toney’s current club are actually trying to tie him down to a new deal.
Toney is currently suspended from football due to breaching FA rules on gambling, but he’s back in training, and he’ll be able to play again in January.
Reports from Portugal earlier this season highlighted that Arsenal were among those watching Gimenez, though it doesn’t seem like their interest has progressed past those scouting sessions yet.
As for Neto, the Wolves man has been linked with Arsenal repeatedly for many years now.
Neto’s excellent form at the start of the season would have done nothing to dull that interest, racking up nine goal contributions in his first 10 games of the campaign.
But the 23-year-old’s persistent injury problems might be more of an obstacle, with Neto’s latest hamstring tear currently keeping him out.
There’s still a long way to go until the summer transfer window, so we’ll have to see how each story develops over the coming months.
