Brentford only want to sell Ivan Toney for a significant fee, despite recent links with a loan move to Arsenal.
Fabrizio Romano reports in his Daily Briefing that Brentford are only open to letting Ivan Toney leave for a significant proposal in January.
Romano notes that some reports have suggested Arsenal could try to sign Toney on loan, as they did with David Raya, but Brentford are more than happy to keep Toney around unless they receive a big bid.
The Evening Standard recently reported that Toney is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, but that doesn’t mean much if his club don’t want to let him go for a reasonable price.
Brentford sporting director Phil Giles previously claimed he’s received no contact over the transfer, and talkSPORT reported that Toney won’t be leaving Brentford in the winter window.
On the contrary, Toney’s current club are actually trying to tie him down to a new deal.
Toney is currently suspended from football due to breaching FA rules on gambling, but he’s back in training, and he’ll be able to play again in January.
The Athletic had previously written that Arsenal were interested in Toney, as they believed he’d provide a different option to the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
The forward scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games for Brentford last season, before his ban.
But for now, a January move doesn’t look very likely.
