Declan Rice has shared his relief at not having to face his Arsenal teammates Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the pitch after their dazzling performance in the Champions League win against Sevilla.
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have been praised by teammate Declan Rice after their influential performances in the recent Champions League victory over Sevilla.
Rice humorously remarked on the pair’s impact, stating, “I think tonight was massive for them for their confidence.
“I think 1v1 they were frightening, every time they had the full-backs 1v1, they drove at them and I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that to be honest with you! They were both electric.”
Saka, assisting Leandro Trossard‘s opener and then scoring a brilliant individual goal, combined with Martinelli’s menacing runs, left Sevilla’s defence in tatters throughout the game.
Arsenal‘s approach to the game has brought them to the cusp of qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League, a stage Rice eagerly anticipates.
“It’s really special. It’s the Champions League. It’s the biggest nights you can get as a player, and it’s a privilege to be playing in it,” Rice added, reflecting on the significance of the competition.
Arsenal‘s 2-0 win over Sevilla has cemented their position at the top of their group, four points clear of PSV Eindhoven and Lens, with two games left.
Despite Sevilla’s lack of threat, Arsenal’s display, particularly from Saka and Martinelli, highlighted their readiness for the challenges ahead, as they aim to secure top spot in their group in the upcoming match against Lens at Emirates Stadium.
