Arsenal’s contract talks with Ben White and Martin Odegaard are ongoing but heading in the right direction, according to a report.
Football insider Team News and Ticks reports that talks are ongoing on contract extensions for Ben White and Martin Odegaard, with nothing agreed yet, but negotiations heading in the right direction.
The same source warns not to expect anything imminently, explaining that it will probably be a while before any announcements.
Team News and Ticks had previously correctly revealed updates on William Saliba and Aaron Ramsdale’s contract extensions, among others.
Charles Watts told TEAMtalk earlier in the summer that White and Odegaard would be the next two players in line for contract extensions.
Watts then added in August that talks were underway over new deals for the duo.
Odegaard is considered integral to Mikel Arteta’s side, and Arsenal are reportedly really starting to step up talks with his agent now.
There’s no rush at this stage, and conversations could drag on throughout the season, but Arsenal want to reward their club captain for his performances and they’re in contact with his camp to make it happen.
The Gunners captain has a contract with Arsenal until 2025, though the club have an option to extend it to 2026.
As for White, the 25-year-old has a contract until 2026, so he’s in a similar situation to Odegaard.
The Times reported in May that White could be among those to be offered improved terms after deals for the likes of Saka and Saliba were sorted. Now that that’s happened, it seems like only a matter of time.
Both Odegaard and White have started all five games of Arsenal’s season so far. Still in their mid-twenties, the hope is they’ll be around at the Emirates Stadium for many years to come.
