The Evening Standard report that Arsenal are expected to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the signing of Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

The Standard claim Arsenal looked at Diaby in the winter window, but Leverkusen didn’t want to let him go mid-season. With two years left on his deal, this summer seems a more favourable time to cash in.

PSG aren’t the first club reported to be in competition with Arsenal for Diaby.

Sport Bild recently wrote that Newcastle United are preparing an offer for the winger, with Leverkusen expecting to receive a fee in excess of €60m (£52m) to part ways with him.

The Telegraph report that they understand Arsenal are among the clubs to have registered an interest in Diaby ahead of the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim that Diaby is one of Arsenal’s key targets, with Mikel Arteta looking to add a versatile attacker to his squad if possible.

But PSG are seemingly interested in their former player, with Newcastle in the race as well, so he’s not going to come cheap.

Diaby is under contract until 2025, and he has 14 goals and 11 assists this season, bringing him to 49 goals and 48 assists in 168 games for Bayer Leverkusen overall.

The 23-year-old is also a France international, and he can play on either wing.

Before the season is over, Diaby is pushing to help his current side win the Europa League. Leverkusen are 1-0 down to AS Roma after the first leg, but the second leg next Thursday will be at home.
