AC Milan are set to make contact with Folarin Balogun’s camp over a potential summer transfer, according to reports from Italy.

Daniele Longo (via GIFN) reports that AC Milan are planning their transfer strategy for the summer, and they’re expected to have a €50m budget on top of any money they generate through sales.

A significant proportion of that money is set to go towards a new striker, with Milan aiming to sign a player who can help them in both the short and the long term.

Folarin Balogun is a popular option at Milan, with Arsenal open to offers.

The Serie A side are laying the foundations for a move, planning to make contact with his representatives before the end of the season. But they’re aware of the competition from the likes of RB Leipzig.

Arsenal value Balogun at over €30m (£26m), according to the report.

Balogun’s value is unlikely to have taken a hit at the weekend, as he scored his 20th goal of the Ligue 1 season, bringing him to 21 goals in all competitions.

The striker’s spell on loan to Stade de Reims has been impressive, and he’s also recently committed his international future to the United States.

Posting on his social media pages on Sunday, Balogun pointed out that he’s the first American player to score 20 league goals in one of Europe’s top-five leagues.

Still just 21 years old, Balogun should have a bright future ahead of him, and his value on the market should reflect that.

As well as Milan and Leipzig, the likes of Inter Milan, Marseille, and AS Monaco have all been linked with Balogun by reliable sources, and PSG have even been mentioned as another possible destination within Ligue 1.
