Arsenal are reportedly interested in a player they were first linked with two years ago – Montpellier’s 20-year-old-striker, Elye Wahi.
According to reports from Téléfoot, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest in Montpellier’s 20-year-old striker, Elye Wahi.
The Gunners were linked with the French forward in January, when Foot Mercato reported their interest. That came after Arsenal were first linked in February, 2021.
Wahi has registered eight goals and two assists in 21 appearances this season as his club find themselves in a relegation battle.
Montpellier have undergone two managerial changes this season and are currently seven points above the relegation zone, with four teams set to be relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season.
Despite Montpellier’s problems on the pitch, Wahi has continued to impress, and his form has caught the attention of several European clubs.
In addition to Arsenal, both Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are now considering making a move for the France U21 international.
Wahi signed his current contract with Montpellier in 2021 when he was promoted to the first team squad. That ties him to the club until the summer of 2025.
He signed for Montpellier in 2018 from Caen u19, spending time with Montpellier’s youth ranks where he scored three goals in 10 games for their B side.
In total, Wahi has 21 goals, and eight assists, in 79 games for Montpellier and is valued at around €18m but he was priced at around €30m in January.
