Arsenal have been following 20-year-old Montpellier centre-forward Elye Wahi for several months now, and he’s reportedly very popular with the Gunners.

FootMercato report that Elye Wahi is attracting the interest of several clubs from France and abroad, with Arsenal standing out among them.

FootMercato claim Arsenal have been following Wahi for several months, and their attention has recently intensified.

The Gunners aren’t yet planning to make an offer, but a summer exit reportedly seems “more than possible” for Wahi.

Other than Jamal Musiala (18) and Arsenal’s own Bukayo Saka (20), no under-21 player recorded more goals and assists in Europe’s top-five leagues than Wahi (15) in 2022.

The striker is making his breakthrough at a very young age, becoming just the second player in the last 40 years to score 20 goals in Ligue 1 before turning 20.

The first was of course Kylian Mbappe, who did it by the age of 18 and 10 months. But Mbappe is often in a league of his own.

As well as playing for Montpellier, Wahi is a France u21 international, scoring once in 76 minutes for the side.

That late equaliser against Belgium in September will surely have done his reputation in the France setup no harm. You can watch it here or below from 4:38.

This isn’t the first time Arsenal have been linked with Wahi, with rumours connecting the two since early 2021.
