Repubblica.it report that Weston McKennie’s agent has been in London for around a week to negotiate the sale of his client from Juventus to the Premier League.

Leeds United currently lead the race, but la Repubblica also put Arsenal in the running for the signing.

The Gunners have reportedly made an offer of close to €30m (£26.4m) for McKennie, whilst Leeds United are apparently pursuing a loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Again, that option to buy would be set at around €30m, but Juventus want a permanent transfer or an obligation to buy.

All the same, Leeds United are currently the club pushing for McKennie’s signature, having already agreed personal terms with the player.

Various Italian outlets, including la Repubblica, report that McKennie has already turned down offers from the likes of Bournemouth and Aston Villa over their current status as mid-table clubs (at best).

The reason Leeds United didn’t end up in the same boat is the U.S. connection there, with their coach Jesse Marsch and players Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.

McKennie has made 21 appearances for Juventus this season, scoring three goals and assisting two from midfield.

As well as being a Serie A regular, McKennie also plays for the U.S. Men’s National Team, making 41 appearances and scoring nine goals for his national side. He started every game for the team at the World Cup.
