Brooke Norton-Cuffy is off on loan to the Championship after signing his new deal with Arsenal, with Arsenal confirming he has joined Rotherham United for the season.

Preston North End were one of the clubs also linked with a move for the Arsenal youngster, but LancsLive reported a few days ago that that move was off.

Rotherham recently lost Peter Kioso to a 10-week groin injury, and their manager confirmed they planned to strengthen at right-wing-back, hence their move for Norton-Cuffy.

“Of course, you have your plans but then you also need to be flexible because on average I’ll take about 50 to 100 calls a day, half of which were probably unscheduled,” Norton-Cuffy’s agent Alan Redmond said last week.

“In terms of a solid example, we have Brooke Norton-Cuffy who has just signed a new contract at Arsenal, and there are about seven Championship clubs looking to take him on loan.

“Four of them probably think they are in a good position to land him – but only one can.”

Norton-Cuffy had a very strong first loan spell in senior football last season, joining Lincoln City in League One. He made 17 appearances in a few months with the side and earned plenty of praise.

A step up to the Championship is the logical next step.
