William Saliba could be in line for an Arsenal contract extension this summer, but the French media suggest there’s also a chance he could leave.

French outlet BUT (via GFFN) report that William Saliba could be set for a new long-term deal this summer, with his current contract set to expire in 2024.

The suggestion is that Saliba may well have done enough to convince Mikel Arteta to make him a major part of Arsenal’s future.

On the other hand, Arsenal would reportedly seriously consider a transfer for Saliba if they can’t agree on an extension with him.

Should that be the case, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Sevilla could be among the clubs looking to sign him.

Saliba has had a very positive experience on loan with Marseille so far. He’s now up to 34 appearances in all competitions, impressing teammates, supporters, and even opponents.

Earlier this month, the centre-back was even awarded Marseille’s Player of the Month award for January.

There have been plenty of reports of outside interest in Saliba in recent months, but Goal report that Arsenal continue to insist Saliba remains a key part of their future.

The Gunners believe Saliba’s development in France has justified their strategy with him so far.

As per the reports from France, the suggestion in England is that talks are planned for this summer, and they’re expected to include discussions over a new contract.

The Athletic recently reported that Arsenal will be in a position where they arguably need to renew or sell Saliba this summer.

The same outlet suggested Saliba is currently intending to return to Arsenal next season and compete for a first-team place.
