Football.London report that Arsenal have recently brought in Florian Bluchel from Bayern Munich. The 37-year-old spent over 10 years with Bayern, working his way up to the position of international scout.

With Arsenal, Bluchel is working as International First Team Scout for Germany, working on traditional scouting, video analysis, and player profiling.

The Evening Standard also report the appointment, highlighting that the German has already announced the move on his LinkedIn page.

Bluchel started work with the club in October, so he should already be settled ahead of the January transfer window.

Bayern obviously have an excellent player recruitment record, albeit aided by their status in German football.

It’s not particularly difficult to sign players for low fees when they’re happy to run down their contracts and join you for free to win trophies, as many have done in recent years.

Then there are cases like Serge Gnabry’s, where Arsene Wenger suggested Bayern were running things behind the scenes when the player moved to Werder Bremen, before joining Bayern the following summer for a marginal Bremen profit.

Still, Arsenal could certainly do with some deals like that, and it’s good to bring in someone who knows the German market as well as Bluchel does.
