Calciomercato report that AC Milan are on the hunt for a new number nine, as their current centre-forward options are getting on a bit.

The club are searching for any market opportunities, and in recent weeks they’ve been offered Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal. In terms of experience and quality, he’s seemingly a good option for Milan, though his salary is an issue.

The Serie A club are only willing to offer a salary of around €5m, whilst Lacazette is earning double that. He’d have to make some pretty serious concessions to be able to reach an agreement on wages as things stand.

Per previous reports on Lacazette, Arsenal are yet to make him a contract offer. His deal is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning clubs like AC Milan are free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with him in January.

If nothing changes, Milan won’t have to pay a transfer fee to bring Lacazette in next summer, so salary would be the only financial obstacle. But it looks like a pretty significant obstacle.

Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Sevilla are all reportedly monitoring the situation as well.

Reports in September suggested that Arsenal may well have looked to make a summer signing up front if Lacazette had left. But he decided to stay and see out his deal instead.
