Arsenal delivered a squad update on Saturday ahead of their last pre-season friendly on Sunday – a trip to the Toilet Bowl Arena to play Tottenham Hotspur.

Thomas Partey picked up a nasty ankle injury last weekend against a decidedly kicky Chelsea at the Emirates and, after the game, Mikel Arteta had said that it did ‘not look good’ for the midfielder.

Now, Arsenal have confirmed that Partey will be out of action for around three weeks, meaning he will miss the games against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City. After those matches, we then head into an early international break which should hopefully give Partey a chance to get fully fit before the action returns on 11 September, with a game against Norwich.

Arsenal’s update said, “Right ankle. Thomas sustained an injury to ligaments in his right ankle during the friendly match against Chelsea last Sunday. Thomas continues to be assessed and is expected to be back in training in approximately three weeks.”

About Eddie Nketiah, they added, “Right ankle. Eddie sustained bruising to his right ankle during the friendly match against Chelsea last Sunday. Eddie continues to be assessed and is expected to be back in training in approximately four weeks.”

Gabriel still continues his recovery from a knee injury that ruled him out of the Olympics in Japan and took him to Mexico for physio. “Right knee. Gabriel sustained an injury to his right knee whilst with the Brazilian Olympic Squad. Gabriel is currently being assessed and is aiming to be back in training in the forthcoming weeks.”
