Just why Arsenal and Chelsea are playing each other in a ‘friendly’ just three weeks before they meet in the league is anyone’s guess but this was a match when Chelsea looked to set down a marker for that match. They set about kicking lumps out of Arsenal, something Andre Marriner was only too happy to allow.

One of their ‘challenges’ resulted in Partey having o leave the field and the midfielder now faces an anxious wait with the season just two weeks away.

“I just had a talk with the doc,” said Mikel Arteta after the match. “He’ll have a scan tomorrow. At the moment it’s not looking good.”

We can but hope the initial swelling is making it seem worse than it really is, but that would require Partey to undergo a change of luck, also.

Since arriving at Arsenal, Partey has already suffered three different injuries, this is his fourth.
