Alexandre Lacazette is likely to remain at Arsenal this season, but his camp aren’t close to any kind of agreement to extend his contract.
TheAFCBell report that a source close to Alexandre Lacazette informs them the player is more likely to stay at Arsenal than leave in the current window, barring an unmissable late opportunity for him.
As for Lacazette’s long-term future, there are no signs of any agreement between the club and the player’s camp over an extension. Meaning that right now, Lacazette is most likely to stay for one more season and then leave on a free transfer.
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that there was still a chance Lacazette could leave before the end of the transfer window, and this latest update doesn’t rule that out. But with around a week of the transfer window left, there aren’t any serious links away.
Lacazette has been linked with Barcelona, with Lionel Messi leaving, talk that Martin Braithwaite could follow, and Sergio Agüero injured. But RAC1 reporter Gerard Romero claims there’s “nothing” in the Lacazette-to-Barcelona story.
Honestly, with Arsenal scoring a grand total of zero goals in Lacazette’s Covid-19 absence, I’m not even sure it would be a good idea to cash in now.
