Willian’s primary goal for the summer is a return to Chelsea after just one year with Arsenal, according to a report.

According to Sky Sports in their Transfer Centre, Willian is keen to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Sky understand that Willian is considering leaving Arsenal this summer, with a number of clubs in Europe and MLS side Inter Miami interested. But the winger’s first choice is to rejoin his former club, Chelsea. He has a contract with Arsenal until 2023.

This is just the latest in a series of disappointing developments with Willian since his transfer as a free agent.

After a strong debut performance against Fulham, Willian only contributed to one further goal in 2020, providing an assist in a defeat to Wolves. Though he rallied briefly in late February to early March, it didn’t lead to any significant contribution in the big games after that.

The 32-year-old finally scored his only Arsenal goal, against West Brom in early May, but didn’t play another minute afterwards.

There were reports of a calf injury on the final day of the season, amid talk that he wants to leave the club. Now, to top it all off, he’s hoping Arsenal will sell him back to Chelsea.

If we’re being honest, Chelsea probably don’t want him back anyway. But if for some reason they do, Arsenal shouldn’t sell cheap. Get Chelsea to effectively refund Willian’s season or send him abroad.
