Wilfried Zaha says he wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to leave Crystal Palace for a top team this summer, after interest from Arsenal in the past.

Speaking to the media this week, Wilfried Zaha suggested he wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to move on from Crystal Palace this summer.

“I feel like I can have another shot at the top teams, because my dream is to win things,” Zaha said. “I’m good enough to go out there and compete with the best.

“If the opportunity came, I wouldn’t turn it down, because I feel like I deserve it. It’s so I can show my kids: ’This is what daddy won’.”

Zaha was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in 2019, but Crystal Palace’s valuation pushed the Gunners to sign Nicolas Pepe instead.

There’s been some gossip that Arsenal could return for him this summer, with 90min reporting that Arsenal had ‘reignited their interest’ back in April. Though at this stage, that’s about as substantial as the rumours get.

Zaha has two years left on his deal and Palace are probably more willing to cash in at this stage. He has 11 goals and two assists in 30 appearances this season. But you still feel like the Arsenal ship may have sailed.

The winger is 28 and will be 29 later this year (that’s how it works). Nonetheless, he’d still probably end up being Arsenal’s biggest money signing this summer if he joined, purely based on his importance to Crystal Palace.

Will Arsenal invest a big fee in a 28-year-old winger when they have bigger issues to address in midfield? Personally, I doubt it.
