The Athletic report that Eberechi Eze suffered a serious Achilles injury in training, and it’s looking likely he’ll need surgery to correct the damage. The player will undergo scans on Wednesday, but he could face six to eight months out.

The Achilles rupture occurred in Tuesday’s training session, Palace’s last session before the visit of Arsenal on Wednesday evening. At the time, Roy Hodgson wasn’t aware of the scale of the problem, hence only telling the media Eze was doubtful.

The 22-year-old has been a consistent presence in the Palace team this season, making 36 appearances and scored four goals, as well as providing six assists. He’s played all over midfield, though largely on the left.

Eze has started every single Premier League game for Palace since January 14th, so it’s going to be a blow to lose him for the final couple of games of the season. Even more so if he misses much of the next campaign as well.

The England u21 international spent some time with Arsenal early in his youth career, and we wish him all the best with his recovery.
