For the third game in a row, Joe Willock was named on the bench for Newcastle United on Saturday against West Ham United, but he made sure to have an impact on the result all the same.

Willock’s last substitute appearance had been to score a late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur – much to the delight of the Arsenal fans. This time around, he came on with the scores at 2-2 and less than 10 minutes to play.

Once again, the on-loan Arsenal midfielder repeated the trick, scoring a late header to win his team the match. You can watch it here from 2:44.

The goal was Willock’s third of the loan spell, earning them a win over Southampton, a draw with Spurs, and another win over West Ham United. Those goals alone have given Newcastle an extra five points, lifting them two more places above the relegation zone.

No wonder Steve Bruce told the media after the game they’d love to bring him back next season.

“We would love to keep him here. He is the type of player you’d love to build your club around,” Bruce said. “Whether we can or not, I’m not quite sure.”
